Building a New Army of Habitat Heroes
April is one of the busiest months for environmental groups. It's the beginning of spring- a time to start thinking about warmer weather, flowers blooming, and working in your yard. For us, it's a time to engage as much as possible with the public through educational workshops, events, and volunteer opportunities. If you're looking for something to do this spring, you're in luck!
The Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association (SBMWA) and Raritan Headwaters Association (RHA) will be holding their annual stream cleanups on Earth Day: Saturday, April 22nd. SBMWA will also have cleanups on April 29th, the following Saturday, in four additional locations!

Both organizations will also be focusing on native plants in April. In addition to the native plant workshop "Let's Get Native" and accompanying native plant sale, there will be a showing of Hometown Habitat at The Watershed Center in Pennington on April 2nd. This 90-minute film was directed and produced by Catherine Zimmerman and features Doug Tallamy, PhD, Entomologist and author of "Bringing Nature Home".
The message: All of us have the power to support habitat for wildlife and bring natural beauty to our patch of the earth.
The goal: Build a new army of habitat heroes!
